Temple of Edfu a best preserved shrines in Egypt (E14/25)

We disembark from our cruise at Edfu for the visit to Temple of Edfu.

For tourist, it isn't much things to do here if you are not visiting Temple of Edfu. This make a perfect stop for cruise for a day trip to Temple of Edfu.
The only mode of transport to the temple is horse-drawn carriage.
Mud bricks were use for the construction of the temple.
Edfu Temple aka Temple of Horus is one of the well preserved and complete of ancient Egyptian temples and is dedicated to the worship of the god Horus.

Just as elsewhere, many of the temple's inscriptions were destroyed by followers of the Christian faith which came to dominate Egypt later.
A smart way of joining two rocks together with wood wedge.
The reliefs decorating the twin towers are mirror images of each other and represent pharaoh Ptolemy XII defeating his enemies. There are also two granite statues of Horus as falcon guard the entrance gate.

Well decorated ceiling as well.

Wonder who have a better idea in designing symbol? This similar symbol were widely use everywhere in this modern days.

Sacred Barge of Horus inside the sanctuary at the centre of the temple.
Another great place worth the visit.
