Today was a special treat! For the first time in five days, we woke up after sunrise and got to really appreciate our cozy homestay.
As we enjoyed our breakfast, we were greeted with a lovely view of Mount Lokon right outside.
Once we finished eating, we headed off to Mount Mahawu, but the weather decided to surprise us with a little drizzle. So, we found a nice spot at the camping area to wait it out.
Nature has really claimed this place—everywhere you look, the building is adorned with vibrant green moss,
and even the paths are thick with it!
When the rain let up, we started our climb up Mount Mahawu to check out the crater.
The hike wasn’t too tough, and soon enough, we reached the top where we were rewarded with a stunning view of the crater.
We could smell the sulfur and see steam rising from it, but we chose to admire it from a safe distance.
We took a different path on our way up, and while we didn’t see many birds, we enjoyed the beautiful variety of vegetation on our descent.
What a lovely adventure!
